[Overview]
I read the first part of this duology back in january and I absolutely loved it, so I decided to start with the second part now. Toward the end there were some things I didn't appreciate so much, but I still enjoyed this book immensly. There will be a spoiler part in this reviw, but it will be marked. Also if you haven't read the first book there might be more spoilers.
[My Opinion]
Just like the first book, the writing in this was beautiful! Everything Renee writes is beautifully descriptive and takes you into this incredible fantasy world you don't ever want to leave. There wasn't as much worldbuilding in this one, but that's because it continues right where the first book left off, so there is no need for it.
The plot was just as good, if not better, as the first one. I loved spending time in the desert instead of in the city and really enjoyed getting to know Artan and learning about magic.
There was a lot more action, but that's exactly how I like it and the pacing was really great. Well except towards the end, which felt really abrupt but I'll talk more about this in the spoiler part below.
Khalid showed another side of himself in this book, going to help rebuild his city. It didn't surprise me, but I still loved seeing it. I also liked how he protected his wife, but was still able to controll his rage and be reasonable.
Shazi was just as amazing as in the first book, she is just such a strong women, and I loved seeing her discover her magic. The mental picture of her on her carpet is incredible and I really want some Fan Art of this.
I also enjoyed getting to know both Artan and Irsa, but I was a little disappointed to not see more of Despina and Jalal.

So Despina. Her beeing a spy was a very interesting turn of events. Her still beeing on Khalid and Shazis side was another interesting one. And believe me, I was happy about it. But it still felt very abrupt and rushed.
In my opinion Renee should have taken a few more chapters for everything that happend once Shazi was abducted. I liked the way everything ended but I would have liked it so much more if it wasn't so rushed.

I really enjoyed this book and despite the disappointing writing of the end I rated this book 5 stars. This is the first duology I've read and I really liked it. And while I would have wished for a few more chapters and I really enjoyed all three short stories, I think this left off on a perfect note.

Ich habe den ersten Teil dieser Dilogie im Januar gelesen und mich total verliebt, daher habe ich mich entschlossen jetzt den zweiten Teil zu lesen. Das Ende hat mir nicht so gut gefallen, trotzdem hat mir das Buch an sich super gefallen.
Daher wird es zum Ende der Rezension Spoiler geben, die werde ich aber markieren. Außerdem gibt es Spoiler für alle, die den ersten Band noch nicht gelesen haben.
[Meine Meinung]
Genau wie auch im ersten Buch war der Schreibstil wundervoll! Renee nimmt einen mit in eine fantastische Welt, die man nie mehr verlassen möchte, und alles was sie schreibt ist sehr detailgerecht.
Die Handlung war mindestens genauso gut, wenn nicht sogar besser, als im ersten Buch. Die Zeit in der Wüste anstelle der Stadt hat mir sehr gut gefallen, und ich habe es genossen Artan kennen zu lernen und auch etwas über die Magie zu erfahren.
Dieses Mal gab es mehr Action, was mir sehr gut gefallen hat, genauso wie das Tempo. Obwohl mir das gegen Ende nicht so gut gefallen hat, da alles sehr abrupt war, aber da werde ich weiter unten noch weiter darüber sprechen.
Khalid hat hier noch einmal eine etwas andere Seite von sich gezeigt, als er geholfen hat seine Stadt wieder aufzubauen. Es hat mich nicht überrascht, trotzdem fand ich es super es zu sehen. Was mir besonders gefallen hat war, wie er seine Frau beschützt, sich aber trotzdem gut kontrollieren kann und rational bleiben kann.
Shazi hat mir genauso gut gefallen wie im ersten Buch, sie ist einfach eine sehr starke Frau und es hat mir so gut gefallen, wie sie ihre Magie entdeckt hat. Das Bild, wie sie auf ihrem Fliegenden Teppich sitzt, will ich unbedingt als Fan Art finden.
Es hat mich auch sehr gefreut Artan und Irsa kennen zu lernen, obwohl ich etwas enttäuscht war, dass man nicht so viel von Despina und Jalal gesehen hat.

Despina. Das sie ein Spion war hat mich sehr überrascht, es war aber eine sehr interessante Wendung. Genauso wie die Tatsache, dass sie doch auf Khalids Seite war. Allerdings ging mir beides viel zu schnell. Man hatte sich gerade damit abgefunden, dass sie Shazi verraten hat, und auf einmal war alles schon wieder anders.
Meiner Meinung nach, hätte sich Renee noch ein paar Kapitel mehr Zeit für nehmen sollen, für alles was passiert ist, nachdem Shazi entführt wurde. Mir hat das Ende an sich gut gefallen, aber es ging einfach zu schnell.
[Fazit]
Mir hat das Buch trotz des etwas enttäuschenden Ende sehr gut gefallen und ich habe ihm 5 Sterne gegeben. Obwohl ich mir etwas mehr Zeit am Schluss gewünscht hätte, war es doch der perfekte Abschluss einer Dilogie.
